FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The Air Assist™ is a disposable, medical-grade silicone device designed to prevent air and CO2 escape during colonoscopy. It maintains air insufflation, ensuring adequate colonic distension when needed.
The Air Assist™ creates a reversible seal between the colonoscope and the anus or stoma, minimizing air leakage and ensuring adequate colon distension to improve visability. This reduces the need for repositioning and manual buttock crackoid pressure, improving procedure safety and efficiency.
Colonic distension is critical for visibility during colonoscopy, which improves Adenoma Detection Rates (ADR) and improves accuracy during diagnostic and therapeutic maneuvers during colonoscopy.
- More Effective: Replaces ineffective manual buttock crackoid pressure, and minimize patient repositioning, which has been associated with staff and patient injury.
- Safer for Staff and Patients: Minimizes the physical strain on staff and lowers the risk of aspiration for patients, associate with patients in the supine position.
- Immediate and Reversible: Maintains air insufflation, ensuring on demand reversible adequate colon distension.
- Cost-Efficient: Reduces procedural time. and eliminates the need for more complex techniques like water instillation.
The Air Assist™ is designed for easy use by the endoscopist or endoscopy technician. Minimal training is required.
Air Assist™ efficacy has been validated with the use of both Pediatric and Adult colonoscopes.
The Air Assist™ is a single-use, disposable device to ensure hygiene and safety for each patient.
Yes, the Air Assist™ complies with all relevant medical device regulations and has been cleared for use.
Air Assist™ takes the place of buttock crackoid pressure. Air/CO2 is aspirated as in any colonoscopic procedure. In fact, there is a need for less insufflation due to it’s immediate effect on air escape through the anus, and less overall insufflation, resulting in less gas in proximal colon.
